What does Assurinco do to protect your personal data?

Assurinco attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data and we make sure that you feel safe during your visits.

In the interests of complete transparency, we wish to inform you about the data we collect, how this information is used and how you can object to the processing of this data. We also wish to inform you about the measures put in place to guarantee you maximum security.

Assurinco, as controller, abides by the following principles:
  • your data is used only for explicit, legitimate and determined purposes related to our various businesses (e.g. insurance, assistance),
  • we collect only the data that is useful to us,
  • we do not store your data beyond the time required for the operations for which it was collected (e.g. assistance), or those provided for by CNIL standards and authorisations (compliance pack for the insurance sector) or by law (e.g. legal requirements),
  • we communicate your data only to intermediaries, companies in the ASSURINCO group, partners, insurers, reinsurers, service providers or authorised professional bodies who need it in the course of our activities,
  • whether when drawing up a quotation or signing a contract, we take particular care to inform you clearly and transparently about the purpose for which your data are to be used, the optional or mandatory nature of your answers in the forms and your data protection rights,
  • Assurinco updates its website to provide you with an information update on the processing of your data

Why do we collect your personal data ?

Your data is only used for the following purposes :

  • the signing, management (including commercial) and execution of your insurance contracts, in accordance with the NS16 and NS56 standards issued by the CNIL, which may include the use of your social security number and access to the National Register of Identification of Natural Persons (RNIPP) under the conditions and in the cases listed in CNIL authorisation AU31,
  • the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, with the establishment of a contract monitoring system that may lead to the drafting of a suspicious transaction report or an asset-freezing measure, in accordance with the Monetary and Financial Code and the CNIL authorisation AU003,
  • the fight against insurance fraud in accordance with CNIL authorisation AU39, which may lead to registration on a list of persons at risk of fraud,
  • the collection of data relating to offences, convictions and security measures either at the moment of taking out the insurance contract, or during its execution or in the context of litigation management, under the conditions provided for by CNIL authorisation AU32,

Assurinco is legally required to check that your data is accurate, complete and, if necessary, updated. We may ask you to check it or to complete your file (e.g. by registering your email if you have written an email to us).
When you take out your contract, certain questions are mandatory. In the event of false declarations or omissions, the consequences for you may be that the contract you have taken out becomes null and void (Article L. 113-8 of the Insurance Code) or the compensation that we pay you is reduced (Article L. 113-9 of the Insurance Code).

Access to your personal data is strictly limited to our employees and agents and, where applicable, to our subcontractors. The subcontractors, employees and agents in question are subject to an obligation of confidentiality and may only use your data in accordance with our contractual provisions and the applicable legislation. Except as set out above, we will not sell, rent, lease, transfer or give access to your data to third parties without your prior consent, unless required to do so for a legitimate reason (legal obligation, fight against fraud or abuse, exercise of the rights of defence, etc.).

Who are the recipients of your personal data ?

Within the strict framework of the stated purposes, the recipients of your data are ASSURINCO’s employees. They may also be processed by our partners, subcontractors, service providers, reinsurers, and, where applicable, the insurance or social security organisations of the persons involved as well as persons concerned by the contract.

These recipients may be located outside the European Union. We will provide you with the updated list of these countries and references to the appropriate guarantees on request to the address shown in the "Your contacts" section.

If your personal data is transferred outside Europe, Assurinco introduces appropriate safeguards to ensure that your personal data is protected. If you wish to obtain information about these guarantees, please send your request to the address shown in the "Your contacts" section.

How long do we keep your personal data ?

We will keep your personal information for 3 years after the end of our contractual relationship or 3 years after our last contractual requests without engagement unless you inform us that you have a project in progress that requires us to retain your data, and unless:

  • You exercise your right to delete data concerning you, under the conditions described below
  • A longer storage period is permitted or required by law or regulation.

During this period, we make every effort to ensure the confidentiality and security of your personal data and to prevent their being damaged, deleted or accessed by unauthorised third parties.

What rights do you have relating to the protection of your personal data ?

In accordance with the "Data Protection Act" of 6 January 1978 as amended and European Regulation No 2016/679/EU of 27 April 2016, you have the right to access, correct, carry over and delete your data or to restrict processing. You may also, for legitimate reasons, object to the processing of your personal data.

In general, we undertake to comply with the regulations in force applicable to the processing of personal data and, in particular, with the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 applicable as from 25 May 2018.
